This rock piece was just released on Pond5. I threw in all the good ingredients of a rock song – guitar, bass, drums, Hammond organ and a Rhodes piano for good measure.
You may be confused by these sounds but let me assure you, you haven’t travelled back in time, to the late 70ies or early 80ies. You’re allowed to feel taken back to that time, though.

This is the sort of guitar riff I catch when riding my bike to work and they get stuck in my head until I record them. Now it all started out very AC/DC, but developed into something a little bit influenced by the sound of progressive rock bands I love. I have no control over these things!
The guitars are recorded with Bx_Rockrack, which took a little tweaking and pre-processing before it started to sound the way I wanted, but now I’m very happy with the results. Similar experiments allowed me to finally make peace with Logic’s Bass amp. To my ears, it sounds very real now.
This is also my first track using ValhallaDSP’s Room and Vintage reverbs. And to me, they make all the difference. The compressor credits again go to NI, FabFilter’s Pro-Q 2 has taken over as mixing and mastering EQ.
